Why IT Works

Integrated Tutoring works not only because it is the most cost-effective intervention available but because it provides tutoring when the student needs help. In math, students learn by solving problems but become frustrated when stuck. Providing assistance when the student is asking for help is fundamental to helping students understand math concepts.

Integrated Tutoring works with and augments your current intervention strategies. When your teachers are unable to provide individualized help and your tutoring center is stretched, Integrated Tutoring assists students whether at home or at school.

How Integrated Tutoring Helps You Meet the National Math Panel's 2008 Recommendations

The final report of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel for 2008, “Foundations for Success”, recommends explicit instruction for struggling students (defined as students who perform in the lowest third of a typical class). The report states, “Explicit instruction, including extensive practice with feedback, can improve struggling students’ math performance."

The report further elaborates, “This finding does not mean that all of a student’s mathematics instruction should be delivered in an explicit fashion. However, the Panel recommends that struggling students receive some explicit mathematics instruction regularly.”

Explicit instruction is characterized by extensive feedback and allowing students many opportunities to ask and answer questions. This is exactly what Integrated Tutoring provides.
